Reflecting on a Middle School Program
This fall, 2018, I was approached by a high school band director in the Central Valley regarding a substitute teaching position. A band director at one of his feeder middle school was about to go on paternity leave, and he wanted to make sure the program received more than a generic district substitute in baby-sitting the band.
The proposal was for me to cover the two classes forty-minute classes– percussion and winds– on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while a colleague of mine at Pacific taught the other three days of the week.
